killing them softly movie

Johnny Amato (Vincent Curatola) wants to hire a previous crime associate, Frankie (Scoot McNairy), and a second person for 'a job.' Upon meeting, Frankie selects Russell (Ben Mendelsohn), an unkempt junkie but also his only close friend. Russell and Johnny immediately don't get along, and it is with a little convincing before Frankie accepts. Amato explains the job would involve robbing an (illegal) poker game held by Markie Trattman (Ray Liotta). Johnny explains that years ago, Markie set up an inside job to have his own poker game robbed. Markie then was interrogated by mafia enforcer Dillon (Sam Shepard), but manages to convince them he had nothing to do with the robbery. Poker games, meanwhile, are shut down for a period. Once time passes, the games start back up, and during a poker game, Markie drunkenly admits to having set the whole thing up. Instead of anger, the mafia group decides to 'give him a pass' and there is no retaliation. Johnny believes that Markie will be held responsible for this second robbery and after his execution, it will be forgotten about.
